PHILADELPHIA, AUG. 28, 2009 – State Sen. Anthony Williams and the West Philadelphia Coalition of Neighborhoods and Businesses invite the community to the upcoming 20th annual Neighborhood to Neighborhood Street Festival, featuring R&B singer Robin Thicke.
This daylong free event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 50th Street and Baltimore Avenue.
“This annual event is a peaceful way for neighbors of all ages to celebrate our diverse community and get to know each other better,” Williams said. “I look forward to it every year, and I invite everyone in the community to come out and join in on the festivities.”
Participants will enjoy a free, fun-filled family event, featuring children’s rides, music, food, merchandise, vendors, community resource information and much more.
At the festival, the senator will recognize several local soldiers who served in Iraq by presenting them with a Senate citation.
“I can’t think of a more fitting way for all of us to express our gratitude for our soldiers’ sacrifices than to honor them with the whole community gathered together,” Williams said.
In addition to headliner Robin Thicke, other musical acts will entertain the crowd, including Jeff Bradshaw & Brass Heaven, Carol Riddick, Black Ice and Hezekiah. Participants can also join in karaoke with DJ Kev and line dancing with Tina & Co.
