Williams Encourages Youths to Shun Bullying, Promote Peace
There may not be one all-encompassing solution to end violence, but state Sen. Anthony H. Williams told a group of youths on Thursday that they can set a lifelong example of peace in the community by taking steps today to prevent bullying among their peers.
In addition to his support for legislation that promotes in-school safety, Senator Williams hosts a series of ongoing school-based efforts to curb student-on-student violence in the 8th Senatorial District.
Bullying can happen anywhere and to anyone. Help stop bullying at school, online, and in the community. Parents, school staff, and other adults in the community can help kids prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe school environment, and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy.

4th-graders at the John M. Patterson Elementary School created anti-bullying posters.
9th-graders at Penn Wood High School created public service videos with anti-bullying themes.
170 students participated in the video production. All 9th and 10th-graders viewed the PSAs and voted. Proving that – in politics and in a video challenge – every vote counts, The Cycle of Bullying was selected #1 by a margin of a single vote. Finishing a very close second was Killing Me Softly.
