Harrisburg – June 3, 2016 – State Sen. Anthony H. Williams (D-Phila/Delaware) and state Rep. Joanna McClinton (D-Phila.) are hosting a free paper shredding event on June 18 at Cobbs Creek Shopping Center in Philadelphia from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This is an excellent opportunity for area residents to properly dispose of old tax forms, financial records, medical reports and other personal information,” Williams said. “The shredding of old records that includes personal information helps prevent identification theft.”
The shredder will be set up next to AutoZone in the Cobbs Creek Shopping Center.
“I am so excited to bring a much needed resource to our neighbors,” McClinton said. “Whether it is junk mail, credit card offers, or paperwork you no longer need – we all can benefit by disposing of these papers safely.”
The event is intended to help individuals shred unneeded papers and is not for businesses. All paper clips should be removed from the papers that are being shred. The generous support of the community sponsor, The Fresh Grocer, has made the event possible.
Cobbs Creek Shopping Center is located at 58th Street and Baltimore Avenue in Philadelphia.
In addition to the paper shredding, staff from the offices of Williams and McClinton will be on hand to provide help with state-related issues. Application forms for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Property Tax and Rent Rebate will be available.
To receive more information about the event, residents are encouraged to stop in or call Williams’ office at 2901 Island Avenue (215) 492-2980 or McClinton’s office at 6027 Ludlow Avenue, Unit A can be reached by phone at (215) 748-6712.
