Monthly television program focuses on the impact of jobs and the environment for Southeast PA
HARRISBURG, November 27, 2012 – State Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams focuses his upcoming Capitol Update on the numerous issues surrounding Marcellus Shale and consumer energy education.
Joining him in the dissection of the issues and to offer additional expertise on the 30-minute cable television show is Wayne Gardner, a member of the state Public Utilities Commission.

“This is an issue that too often gets reduced to sound bites and screaming matches, but Marcellus Shale will impact all of us, for generations, so it behooves us not to get the facts,” Williams said. “I tell anyone, no matter where they start at or what they think they know, investigate the issues. Understand them, and be prepared to make use of the facts. That’s what this show is meant to help do.”
From environmental concerns to jobs to local government coffers, Williams and Gardner delve into the topics often raised when it comes to Marcellus Shale, one of the largest sources of natural gas. The discovery and exploration of this underground reserve has been a lightning rod of controversy and excitement because of the potential costs and benefits of an energy source reportedly more expansive than the oil fields of the Middle East.
Capitol Update is a monthly public affairs show that allows Williams to dig deeper into issues for constituents. It airs three times per week on CH 190 COMCAST and is seen in some 145,000 homes in Center City, South, Southwest, North and Northwest Philadelphia.
The program runs on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:30 p.m. and Fridays at 7:30 pm.
