PHILADELPHIA, November 17, 2009 – – State Sen. Anthony H. Williams invites the public to a free upcoming workshop on weatherization and energy conservation.
The workshop will take place Monday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at Wayland Memorial Baptist Church, 52nd & Baltimore Ave. in Philadelphia. The event is free and open to the public.
“With the approach of winter weather, it is important we do all we can to keep energy bills low,” Williams said. “This workshop will give residents simple tips on how to minimize their home heating bill this winter.”
Williams said participants will learn easy weatherization techniques that will help keep the cold air out, like how to seal their home using plastic storm windows, weather stripping and V-seal. Attendees also will learn how to use a caulk gun and how to install foam insulation, rope caulk and automatic clock thermostats. Free weatherization materials and a demonstration will be offered.
“No one should be left in the cold this winter,” Williams said. “The information provided at this workshop will help keep your families safe and warm and ease the burden of high energy costs.”
Interested individuals are encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible to reserve their place at the workshop.
