PHILADELPHIA, May 14, 2015 — Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams, Philadelphia City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and others will honor 65 Vietnam veterans and others who have fought to defend America during a special Hug-A-Vet Rally Saturday, May 16, at the American Legion William P. Roche Post #21.
“Every American who has ever put on this nation’s uniform, in war or in peace, has assumed risks and made sacrifices on our common behalf. This day belongs to these veterans,” Sen. Williams said.
The Hug-A-Vet program will last until 4 p.m. Sen. Williams, who is scheduled to arrive at 12:30, will participate as a speaker in the program and present certificates to veterans.
The honorees are the members of American Legion posts 21, 89, 200, 682, 832, 840, 959, 968, and others.
