PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 19, 2014 — State Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams will deliver the keynote speech at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, during the University of Pennsylvania’s “AppItUp Challenge” at University City Science Center Quorum, Philadelphia.

This is the second year for the university’s mobile app development competition.

Sen. Williams recently named a group of students from Penn Wood High School as the winner of his inaugural anti-bullying mobile application design competition.

Penn’s competition invites students, faculty and staff to use their research findings to develop and submit mobile app development ideas to a board of venture capitalist and industry judges.

The University of Pennsylvania will name five finalists at the conclusion of Thursday evening’s event. The group that comes up with the winning app idea will receive a $50,000 investment from Ben Franklin Technology Partners.
