PHILADELPHIA, July 17, 2014 — State Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams’ annual “Summer of Peace” program, which is designed to teach children about alternatives to violence, will be at the Nile Swim Club in Yeadon on Saturday.

The office of Sen. Williams will co-host the day with state Rep. Margo Davidson, Yeadon Friends & Neighbors and BMT (Barber Love, Inc.), which will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Free admission to the pool party is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Summer of Peace” incorporates fun activities and consistent messaging to educate participants as they dance, play, and compete.

As with all Summer of Peace events, Saturday’s event will include youth exhibition basketball games, face painting, music and moonbounces. Two performances by local youth talent are scheduled to take place at noon. Free snacks and drinks will also be available.

“Make me over Malika” will also be present for their inaugural clothing drive for local families in need. All are invited to bring new or gently used clothing for donation.

Community partners BMT, Wawa, Keystone First, Herr’s, Giant, Fresh Grocer & Symphony’s Catering help to bring “Summer of Peace” to the 8th Senatorial District.

Media coverage is welcomed.
