Philadelphia, Jan. 12, 2011: State Sen. Anthony H. Williams and his staff will join Tasker Elite, Wide Body Truck Club and other community organizations to help clean up Marian Anderson Recreation Center in observance of the upcoming Martin Luther King Day of Service.
The clean up will take place on Monday, Jan. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the recreation center, located at 740 S. 17th St. (17th and Fitzwater streets) in South Philadelphia.
“My office has received a number of complaints from residents about the condition of the recreation center, which is supposed to be a safe place for children and adults to enjoy,” Williams said. “This clean up is our way of giving back to the community and honoring Doctor King. I urge neighbors to come out and help us make the rec center shine.”
Media participation is welcomed and encouraged.
