YEADON, OCT. 15, 2010 — State Sen. Anthony H. Williams invites concerned parents of Delaware County and their children to the upcoming “Get Involved” Youth Resource Fair.

The fair will be on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Penn Wood High School, 100 Green Ave. in Lansdowne.

“Far too often, our community meetings and anti-violence rallies are held on the back end of a tragedy, especially when we are dealing with our youth,” Williams said. “It’s time to start taking a proactive approach and talk about real solutions and alternatives, including increasing parental involvement. This will be a positive community meeting and resource fair for parents who wish to ‘Get Involved’ in their children’s lives.”

The event, which will provide youth development resources for parents in Delaware County, will start as town-hall style meeting and will consist of a small panel of speakers who will highlight the importance of extracurricular activities, parental involvement, and the potential consequences of not having such.

Following the panel discussion there will be a resource fair providing information on activities and organizations ranging from entertainment, mentorship, athletics, education, music, arts, fashion, culinary, entrepreneurship and much more.
