Harrisburg, September 20, 2016 − State Sen. Anthony H. Williams (D-Philadelphia/Delaware) released the following statement in reaction to a shooting rampage in Philadelphia over the weekend.

In the tragic incident a 25-year old woman was killed, multiple civilians and two police officers were wounded by a gun-wielding assailant.  The gunman was killed in an exchange of gunfire with police.

Williams’ comments follow:

“We are once again tragically affected by the gun violence in our city.  Police officers and civilians were equal in the path of bullets dispersed from an evil man with a gun.  The incident at 52nd and Sansom represents the latest location of unexplained mayhem.

“My condolences go out to those families that have lost a loved one and my prayers to the victims that survived.  We are praying for a complete recovery.

“I am also hoping that the NRA (National Rifle Association) is watching as they continue to block common sense legislation that would remove illegal guns from the hands of people that should never have a gun!”
