HARRISBURG, SEPT. 14, 2009 — Following the recent announcement from Senate and House leaders that a budget deal is imminent, state Sen. Anthony H. Williams issued the following statement:

“While I’m glad that we’ve reached an agreement on the budget, I’m disappointed that it took this long to reach a compromise. This impasse has affected Pennsylvanians of all ages and backgrounds, and I’m still concerned about the businesses and organizations that have already been affected by the budget impasse. I also remain concerned about a number of social services that may not be funded at the level that they need to be.

I look forward to learning more of the details of this agreement so that the necessary programs receive proper funding and we get a budget passed very soon.”
