Philadelphia – September 17, 2019 – Sen. Anthony Williams (D- Philadelphia/Delaware) announced today that funding totaling $542,208 has been awarded to projects within his district through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.

“Access to parks and recreational facilities is essential to living a healthy and fulfilling life,” Williams said. “I am very happy that the state has chose to invest in the wellbeing of our neighborhoods and our people.”

Funding recipients include:

  • The Neighborhood Gardens Trust will receive $42, 208 for their Concert Garden Renovation.
  • The City of Philadelphia will receive $250,000 to go towards the Cobbs Creek Environmental Center Playground Rehabilitation.
  • The City of Philadelphia will also receive $250,000 for the Shepard Recreation Fields Rehabilitation.

The Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program is administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). The Commonwealth Financing Authority allocates these funds to DCED for rehabilitation and beautification projects.
