Harrisburg, PA − October 27, 2025 − Senator Anthony Williams released the following statement on today’s State Government Committee Hearing:

“A Senate State Government committee hearing, scheduled for 10 o’clock this morning, has now become part of theater politics. Dedicating taxpayers’ dollars to a public hearing to change the constitution for 100-year policies and procedures that have been trusted by Republicans and Democrats for generations speaks only to the performance of government, not to its protection. Of all the legal arguments that will be made today in support of or in opposition to this change, there’s one basic, common-sense thought to consider. Our courts have rendered decisions regardless of political makeup. They may have been decisions I disagree with, but they promptly render what is required of them regarding regulation or legal considerations. Why would we turn over the responsibility of rendering a regulatory decision to a body that cannot pass a budget or other sub-legislation in a timely manner? Regulations that are needed to guide the process of commerce or public affairs. Common sense suggests that we do not sit in a time when we want to allow the chaotic politics of today to affect much-needed regulatory protections.”
