Governor Wolf Announces Extension of Eviction and Foreclosure Moratorium through August 31, 2020
Governor Tom Wolf announced on Thursday, July 9, that he would extend his executive order protecting homeowners and renters from eviction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Homeowners and renters are protected from eviction or foreclosure until Aug. 31, if they have not received assistance from a new program administered by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) or are not already receiving relief through other housing programs or judicial orders.
Mortgage lenders and property owners that receive funds through the PHFA program agree not pursue foreclosure or eviction actions as a condition of participation in that program.
As we continue to battle this COVID-19 pandemic, one less thing people will need to worry about is losing their home.
Funding for this relief program comes from $150 million of federal CARES Act money allocated to housing and rent relief by the Pennsylvania legislature in May of this year.
