PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 13, 2014 — “Summer of Peace,” state Sen. Anthony Hardy Williams’ annual program to teach children about alternatives to violence, will bring its message to Cobbs Creek Parkway on Saturday, Aug. 16.

The office of Sen. Williams, in cooperation with “Beautification Project,” will deliver five hours of friendly basketball games, free food, face painting, music and moonbounces as “Summer of Peace” unfolds along the parkway between Catherine and Christian streets.

Community partners for this event include Wawa, Keystone First, The Fresh Grocer, Herr’s, and Black Women in Sports Foundation.

The next – and final – “Summer of Peace” event will be Sept. 6 at Clark Park.
