My Fox Philly: School Choice: If a child is attending a failing school should parents have the right to send their student to a different school? State Senator Anthony Williams believes parents should have a choice. Williams explained on "Good Day," 20,000 students enter the Philadelphia Public School system every year. Only ten percent of students who enter Kindergarten in Philadelphia will graduate from high school and go to college. Williams calls the statistic "a dramatically small number." » More

Grays Ferry Farmers Market Opening
Tuesday, August 31, 2010
Thanks to the efforts of Sen. Anthony H. Williams and Reps. Kenyatta Johnson and Babette Josephs, the Food Trust is opening the Grays Ferry Farmers Market in South Philadelphia on Aug. 31. It will be open on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through October in Peace Plaza, on Wharton Street between 29th and Hollywood streets.

Sen. Williams’ staff has started hosting Mobile Constituent Service Days in the community. We set up mobile offices in senior centers throughout the district to help residents with problems. » Learn More
Health Fair / Walk
Mark your calendar… Sen. Williams, along with Health Partners and the YMCA, will host a Health Fair/Walk on Saturday, Oct 2, 2010 at Laura Sims Skate House, in Cobbs Creek Park, 63rd and Walnut streets. Stretching starts at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m.
Barbershop Tour
Sen. Williams needs your help finding the best barbershops in the district. Please call our office to submit your favorite barbershop for the senator to visit and highlight in future newsletters and his Web site.
